Incontinence Help :: Urge incontinence

Urge incontinence

Urge incontinence occurs when your bladder contracts too early, often before it is full, and before you have a chance to get to a toilet. It is not known exactly why this happens, but it may be due to mixed up signals between your brain and your bladder. Urge incontinence is where you have an unstable or overactive bladder. It is the second most common type of urinary incontinence.

If you have urge incontinence you may feel a sudden need to pass urine before quickly releasing large amounts of urine.

There is often only a few seconds between the need to urinate and the release of urine. If you have urge incontinence you may need to pass urine frequently.
